A quick thank you to everyone who has subscribed in recent weeks. I appreciate the support – and please, it’s free, so sign up! I will be posting less on Twitter and using Substack more to provide updated news.

While you await the results of the midterm, please enjoy a round-up of readings I have enjoyed.

ICYMI

For Reveal and The Pulitzer Center, I wrote about far-right sheriffs and their quixotic quest for so-called “election fraud.”

For Slate, I wrote about how Moms for Liberty is partnering with sheriffs.

Other Reading

Radley Balko has a great newsletter round-up with specific evidence to counter the “crime wave” narrative being pushed by the right.

Steven Monacelli wrote a harrowing story about some of the election deniers spreading conspiracies throughout Texas.

A great round-up of Washington State sheriff races and their links to far-right sheriff movements.

Obviously, Bolts Mag has the best round-up of election information. I wanted to highlight a few races.

  • Piper French – an amazing writer – did this great story about San Francisco and what happened when Brooke Jenkins took over.

  • Thomas Hodgson is up for re-election.

  • Sheriffs’ races are highlighting the 287(g) agreements and jails.
